Default The Sorinex Garage Gym

The decision to leave the big-box gym and start one in my garage was easy. The time demands of a retail career and part-time classes were causing one missed workout after another. The hard part was deciding what I needed, and where to buy it! My job has made me a very demanding and very cautious customer. So when it came to buying a barbell set, I needed to be impressed.

After doing my homework, I contacted the companies who had what I was looking for. Jeff Goergen of Sorinex responded promptly and professionally. After a series of E-mails in which he answered questions and provided suggestions, I was satisfied and put in my order for the Sorinex Six Shooter Bar and a set of the Ivanko Bumper Plates.

I was as excited as a kid on Christmas when delivery day came. When the transport company tried to charge me twice for delivery, I was not amused. I called Mr. Goergen, and he promised to take care of it. And he did. The service after the sale is what separates companies, and Sorinex takes care of its customers. I was so impressed, this year I ordered the ACME 2008 Squat Stands. Again, there was trouble with the shipment. And again, their first words to me were, "We'll take care of you."

Quick Review: After a year of use, the Six Shooter and Ivanko plates have not dissappointed me. The bar revolves nicely, and has knurling right out to the sleeves. It performs well for everything, but really shines on the quick lifts. The plates have handled plenty of drops, and despite living in my garage through cold, heat, and humidity, have only lost a little of their original shine.

The ACME 2008 Stands with the optional Spotter arms is a great set up for the garage. They are sturdy enough for whatever you want to use them for. I've dropped partial deadlifts and missed on squats, yet never had any doubts about my safety. The J-hooks and Safety bars are both plastic-clad, so you do not have to worry about losing the knurling on your bar. Because I have a car that still needs to be put in the garage at night, I appreciate that the whole affair can be easily taken apart by using two heavy-duty hand-screws. In less than a minute, the crossbar is separated from the uprights, and the stands can be tucked away. Great design if you are short on space or if you need your equipment to be portable.

If you are looking to outfit your garage, go to the pros: Sorinex
