Compound Movements
by Rusel Lewis
As the football strength coach for Modesto Christian High School, it's important to get the utmost out of the somewhat limited training time. To maximize our results, we use compound movements a lot in our program.
Hang clean and push press combos, squat and jerk behind the neck, power clean/front squat/split jerk all work very well for athletic functional strength.
Deadlift shrug combos also work well for back strength and explosiveness. The squat is our main lift, but these standing, compound, neuromuscular, sport specific exercises sure work for us!
