Well, It has been a little bit since training has been happening on a consistent basis. Partially because I have been busy, mostly because I have a 3 month old baby boy and am trying to figure out the training schedule.

After a very motivating conversation about glute hams and reverse hypers with Josh and Bert on Friday, I have resumed my training.

On an unrelated (yet somewhat related note) my wife and I were organizing our office this weekend and I came across all of my training notes from what I will refer to as my HayDay of competing in strongman. WOW, was I dialed in. I forgot about all of the detail there was, from rules that I have for everyone who trained in The Locker (my gym) to mental training, to general beliefs about training, to workout details. I'll be applying this to my current training and am working on getting some articles together on the subject of strongman training. More on that later.

I trained this morning. Nothing fancy.

1. D-FLex - This was more abbreviated.

2. Squat - nothing fancy. 5 sets 5 reps. Did these Olympic style.

3. Circuit - Glute Ham 5 reps, Reverse Hype 5 reps, Reverse Fly 10 reps. 3 sets through.

That was it for today. I'll be posting more as time goes on.

Go training!!!

Everyone say hello to the new guy, I'm sure the newbie will learn a lot from the veterans. You can get a lot of good training tips, advice and routines on here if you read the logs, don't be afraid to ask questions ... heh heh. :D

Hey Jeff,
Squats are for legs and hips. Benches are for uppoer body parts. That's all you need to know for now, being a noob and all.

Belated congratulations Jeff. I was wondering what happened to you, but as a father of two boys I now understand exactly what you have been up to.

I am sure we are all looking forward to more insights from you, even if many of them are based on past experiences.

Thanks for the welcome guys!!!! I have a question. If I did lunges yesterday, could that make my legs sore????

Ok, Back to focus.

I did a second workout yesterday. After getting AKC certified and talking to Andrew Durniat, I like the KB for time ideas. So I took a page out of that book. (literally)

Monday Evening -

KB for time circuit.

Snatch - 1 min each hand.
Short Rest
Clean - 1 min each hand.
Short Rest
Split Lunge Swinging the KB through my legs - 1 min each side.

Used a 26lb kettle bell. Looking for some basic work capacity. It went well. My legs are sore today.

Tuesday Morning -

1. Inc. 45 Degree Log Bar Bench - 5 sets 5 reps. 157lbs.

Circuit-

1. Inc. Triceps Extensions to Chin - 10 reps. 85lbs.
2. 45 degree Log Bar Bent Row - 5 reps, 157lbs.
3. Lat Pull - 150lbs. 10 reps.
4. Band Rotations - 10 reps each side.

Did 3 X through the circuit. Not bad.

Did I mention that I am sore???? Do any of you guys know why soreness occurs??? I think it is evil spirits possessing my muscles as they pass through to their torturous afterlife. That is just a guess though. :D
