On his recent trip to the USA vs. Scotland Highland Games, Bert Sorin took the opportunity to go and lift the Inver Stone in Crathie, Aberdeenshire.

The Inver Stone is a smooth, round stone, that is on the small side for it's weight of 265lbs.

The Inver Stone is one of the most famous Clach Cuid Fir. (Manhood Stones - of which Scotland is famous for)

In Scotland 100's of years ago the local young men would try to prove their manhood by lifting this stone.

A Clach Cuid Fir can be found in many towns throughout Scotland. The Inver Stone being one of the most famous.

Below you will see Berts successful attempt at lifting the Inver Stone.

(Information about the Inver Stone was taken from, Of Stones and Strength, by Steve Jeck and Peter Martin)

Thor,
As I look at you standing before the Inver Stone, I think of a line from one of my first MILO essays: "There's something about a stone...something intrinsically alluring." (from "The Choice")
I know how you felt before the lift, during the lift, and after the lift....(and most meaningfully - reflecting upon the lift)!
Well done, lad!

Thank you Jeckster,
You are a major reason that I, and two other young men, decides to go and wrap our arms around history. Thank you for the inspiration and guidance!

Matt,
You WILL find yourself with the same opportunity IF you remember the six words that Earl Nightingale called "The Strangest Secret:" We become what we think about!
Bert lifted that stone, because he first THOUGHT about lifting that stone. He didn't think about it once or twice; but he fixed his mind upon it.
Sure, there were other goals along the way, but make no mistake, he laser-locked on that goal and come heck or high water, regardless of whatever else did or didn't happen over in Scotland, Bert Sorin was going to lift the Inver Stone! When it becomes that clear and important to you....YOU WILL LIFT IT, TOO!
