View Full Version : In the beginning...

Most folks know the first words of the Bible, "In the beginning..."
You may not know that phrase is derived from one hebrew word: Bereshit. What is truly fascinating is that rabbinical scholars have written literally volumes on that one word! And it was (and is) not that unusual for these cats to discuss, debate, philosophize, ponder, and downright argue for weeks on just what is meant by that one word!
Now, that might be a little excessive...but the point is How, When, and Why something originates is pretty important stuff!
I believe with every atom I've got that if we'd LOOK BACK to the Founding Fathers of the Iron Game and study some of the guiding principles of Physical Culture, we'd avoid a lot of nonsense that's out there these days (and maybe even shut down a magazine or two)!

Hey,
My pleasure and honor!
To have anything to do with Sorinex in any way is a joy; but to count Richard and Bert as longstanding, close friends is a great honor!
Thrilled to be a part of this forum (will do my level best to not waste space)!

Yes, Matt....and Thanks!
It's called The Stone Lifter: How Obstacles lead to your Destiny!
It has been endorsed by Bill Pearl, Dave Draper, MetLife VP Joe Jordan...and, oh yeah, The Sorins - who were major sponsors behind the project!
If you got a dream, but just can't seem to get past the "stones" in your path, then The Stone Lifter is for you!
You can get it at Amazon.com (and soon IronMind will carry the paperback edition).
Thanks for asking, Brother!

"Of Stones and Strength" was the book that facilitated me lifting the Inver Stone, and no doubt many other strong lads. They even had a copy of it behind the bar in the Inver Hotel, where the stone rests! We got to sign it, super cool!!!!!!

D,
Thank you - between The Stone Lifter and Of Stones and Strength, you're fully armed (body, soul and spirit)! Go For It!
And Thank You, Thor and Matt for the kind words regarding Of Stones and Strength! 2007 was a tough year (losing both Peter Martin and my Dad); hearing nice things about our book is extremely gratifying and comforting - I do not take a single compliment for granted....Thank you!
Respectfully,
Steve

Thanks, Matt...
As long as I've got breath in my lungs, they'll live on!
A couple lines from Of Stones and Strength have really proved prophetic, and have kept me going:
"Because stones last, the stories of the men who lift them last as well!"
(from the Introduction)
"And for this deed I say to thee as Father unto son; Whilst we must go our separate ways, forever we are one!"
(from my Dad's poem "On Knowing the Stone")
Amen,
Jeck
